~Return of the Ruffles~

Posted by Sophie on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

I thoroughly enjoyed the edgy 80’s fad in 2009.  I’ll love til no end that rock-chic 80’s style with bold shoulders, studs, acid wash jeans, etc.  Now we are heading into the S/S seasons, I’m ready to dive into a more feminine & girly style… the romantic goodness… frills, ruffles, tiered dresses and skirts.  As always, it’s best to create exciting new looks by mixing & matching clothes!

Spring 2010 RTW – Dolce & Gabbana, Isabel Marant, Valentino

Love the outfit on Isabeli Fontana backstage at the Isabel Marant SS 2010 show.  A cute tiered ruffle dress looks so posh with those suede boots!  Here is the Runway Done My Way version.

Runway Done My Way – Summer Chic

Posted by Sophie on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Dsquared² Spring 09 RTW showcased some of the hottest summer looks on the runway.  The semi-casual ensemble above is perfect for a vacation or hot night out.

Well, here is my way!  I’ve added my own twist on it with more bold accessories to spice up the outfit.  The straw clutch, wooden bagles, and leopard belt give it a nice beachy/safari feel to look… which I LOVE!  Always have fun with your accessories, it’s ok to mix & match different styles!  Each piece listed here is very inexpensive but when you put em’ all together… you’ll be dressed to kill!

1. Simple Jersey Scarf $4.50
2. Shadow Striped Blouse (white) $22.99
3. Nordstrom Braided Chain Necklace $98
4. Koh Samui Wendy Rattan Clutch – Snake $129.99 $265
5. Perfect Skinny Haircalf Belt $45
6. Wood Bangle Set $19.99 $34

8. Strappy Platform Heels $34.99

Grecian Dress & Gladiator Sandals

Posted by Sophie on Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Gladiator sandals have really exploded over the last couple of years and now they are undoubtedly among the must-have shoes.  Gladiators are by far the coolest, oldest shoes in history!

Even from 19th century Tadema paintings, women in their flowing goddess dresses look ever so stylish and comfy in their flat gladiators… those were the real deal!  What fashionistas!

So, let’s pull off the ancient Roman look, with style!  I prefer more flirty, comfy Grecian mini dresses including the one-shoulder design.  They are a bit easier to pull off then the floor length gowns.  You can even flaunt those fierce knee-high gladiators!

From left: Julissa Dress $29.99 $44.50, Sleeveless Knit Grecian Dresses $32 $52, The Battalion Grecian Layered Dress $121 $242.

Hippie chic doesn’t get any simpler… just slip on a tie dye dress and throw on some accessories.  Finish the look with a lovely straw floppy hat… you’ll be the hottest beach gal on the block!

Put on your favorite sandals!  You can, of course, wear flats but I much prefer to rock heels.  I always wear chunky platforms with my maxis… such a flattering look!  Plus, your dress won’t drag on the floor.
