How to style ballerina skirts

Posted by Sophie on Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Would you wear ballerina skirts?  Of course you would!  Why in the world would you miss out on such fun skirts?  The question is how do you wear it and with what?  Ballerina/tutu/tulle skirts are more versatile than you think.  And they’ll make you feel like a princess indeed!  Bold skirts like these look best when mixed & matched with different elements whether it’s a plain top or a sexy biker jacket.  All I need is a simple t-shirt and a pair of comfy flats for easy styling.  Team up with hoodies & sneakers for a more eclectic ensemble.  Dress up or down, going to a party or lunch, you are going to luv these fluffies!

1. Casually Romantic
Audrey Hepburn Tee, 76 Tee, Cardigan, Tulle Skirt, Flats

2. Pretty but Tough
Blue Biker Jacket, Tu-Tu Mesh Skirt, Black Tights, Studded Sandals
Black Biker Jacket, Tiered Dress, Combat Boots

3. Sporty Chic
Fleece Top, Beach Hoodie, Ruffle Skirt, Sneakers

Balmain biker jeans for less

Posted by Sophie on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Balmain is the epitome of all rock-chic awesomeness and undoubtedly produces some of the baddest apparel on the planet.  Even in a plain’ol tee and bare feet, all you need is to put on these Balmain Acid Wash Biker Jeans and you be hella rockin’.  This particular gray denim is truly sick with the dirty acid wash look and ribbed knee caps.  We all dream of having a plethora of Balmain in our closet but get real… got $2k for a pair of pants?  Caught up on your rent yet?

As you all know, looking cool is not about the fancy label.  Really.  You just don’t have the privilege to say “Oh, it’s Balmain“… oh darn!  I’m more than satisfied to look stylish with the inspired version instead – Rockstar Tie Dye Biker Jeans, about 90% cheaper at $209.  Happy to see the zip bottoms for that sexy ankle-slit effect… a huge turn on for me when worn with heels.  The tie dye looks as if you’ve been playing with white paint. There are several cool pairs of tie dye skinnies but none that look as smashing as the Rockstar pair.  Worth every single penny to me.  Here is another subtle gray pair without the tie dye effect which is still dead sexy.

Distressed Jeans – DIY

Ciara, Taylor Momsen, Fergie

Did you catch the Project Runway (season 6) premier last night?  I don’t necessarily agree with the winners of previous seasons but I sure do enjoy this show regardless!

Well, here is an easy DIY project to bring out your creativity.  Grab your old jeans or any denim to trash(?) them in a coolest way possible so you can rock’ em!  These ripped, bleached, frayed jeans are the season’s hottest look bringing back the nostalgia of the 80’s fashion craze.  I think distressed jeans are fabulously funky & hip!

You can easily buy distressed jeans pretty much anywhere now but why not create your own one-of-a-kind jeans right from home?  I found this “How to Make Distressed Jeans” video over at ehow.com.  Very easy & simple! This is how we do it~~~ Enjoy!

Rihanna’s New Hairdo

Posted by Sophie on Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Fashion trendsetter Rihanna is like a chameleon.  She’s one gal that is not afraid to try new styles and I commend her for that.   However, it seems her most recent hairdo this time around is not well liked by many.  Say what??   I think she’s rockin’ it!  Definitely refreshing and different from other celebs and has that 80’s vibe going on.  Can you say Thriller?

Rihanna’s new do reminds me of maybe a funky 80’s rocker or that of the likes of Michael Jackson.  Some really hate this style but hey, she’s fond of the 80’s fashion era and I think it’s totally rad!

Splurge vs Steal – Bleached Balmain Jeans

Posted by Sophie on Sunday, April 12th, 2009

I’ve always thought Victoria Beckham looks amazing in jeans although she hasn’t been wearing them as much lately.  So, what do you think of her recent outfit, head to toe in Balmain?

Just the military jacket & the jeans together are well over $9000!  Excuse me?  LOL!  I must admit though, that the Balmain Collection really rocks!  The loveliness of rock-chick style is unbelievably hip & cool!

I’m not too keen on the pointy shoulders on Victoria but lusting after her bleached Balmain jeans (not it’s ridiculous price… uhhhhhhhhh no)!  I’ve always been a fan of distressed jeans that has rips & tears or bleached detailing since the 80’s and it looks like they are coming back!  And I welcome it!
