Veggie chips, anyone?

Green Giant chips review

I’m a gal who LOVES her veggies.  My fondness for vegetables started as far back as I can remember, literally.  One of my earliest memories is stuffing my face with all kinds of veggies including onions and peppers… yes, in the raw.

Vegetables along with grains, fruits and seeds have been the majority of my diet.  I’m just mad about veggies, plain and simple.  When you love veggies it’s easy to maintain healthy eating habits to make it a part of your lifestyle.

Me & my hubby are always on the lookout for healthier snacks that are also flavorful.  One of our favorite snacks is chips & salsa.  Chips made with whole grain or multigrain.  We both recently tried chips by Green Giant.  You know that green giant man on a variety of vegetable products… all too familiar.  I have used many of their frozen veggies as well.  I was naturally drawn to trying out the chips since the brand is all about vegetables.

We tried two flavors – Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips (Barbecue) & Roasted Veggie Tortilla Chips (Garden Ranch).  For starters they are tasty & satisfying. Crunchy and full of flavor.  It was my first time trying out sweet potato chips of any kind.  All I can say is nom, nom, nom!  Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips are delicious without the grease that you see in typical potato chips.  Love the hint of sweetness!  I didn’t love the Roasted Veggie Tortilla chips quite as much. Although they have lots of flavor, I find them a bit too salty.

I like that the whole grain corn is the first on the ingredient list for each chips - Sweet Potato chips with 14g of whole grain & Veggie Tortilla chips with 18g of whole grain.  Whole grains are healthier than refined grains.  The Sweet Potato chips also have 40% less fat than regular potato chips.

With chips, some might like dip on the side.  Forget dip!  Go for salsa!  It’s a healthier and tastier option.  I usually eat chips with the hottest salsa I can find. However, these Green Giant chips are best eaten by themselves frankly.  I did have fresh veggies on the side so that I don’t just gorge on chips… otherwise I will eat the whole bag of sweet potato chips, and some more!

When you have a craving for chips, try out Green Giant chips.  I recommend Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips out of the bunch!
