Pretty in check print

I was feeling under the weather for the past several days.  Working many hours on the computer took a toll on me.  Plus, not getting out enough due to sunny weather (must be the vampire in me).  I finally had a chance yesterday to put on the Check & Mate dress that was newly tailored.  Not living up to my expectations the dress still doesn’t fit properly around the chest area but the overall fit is better now.  So my suggestion is to go with your normal size with this dress.

There is something refreshing about black/white check print on a swing dress.  It’s kind of a modern-retro I should say.  And it easily works for day and night depending on the accessories of course.  A cropped denim jacket would’ve also been really cute over this dress, instead I topped it with a cropped faux fur coat for extra coziness.  The black bow belt goes perfectly.  For a slimmer look, layer a cardigan and cinch it with a belt.

Here’s a similar look but with a pop of red which is ideal for a date night or upcoming holiday gatherings – dress, shoes (quite heels… shhh!), faux fur coat (similar).
