The party season

party dress Here is another reason to love autumn, it’s the season when party invitations start to pour in, and you can look forward to the social whirl ahead of Christmas.  Great, but what about party wear?

It’s time to start thinking about getting yourself fit for the party season.  Yay!  And that means a new dress – at least one – with accessories to match and planning a new, glamorous look for the party-going you.

Self-indulgent maybe, but enjoy it.  First step is spending a pampering evening in, treating yourself with all your favorite beauty goodies including a deep skin-cleansing and toning treatment.  Bored with your hairstyle?  Consider something new, or at your next salon appointment, talk to one of the stylists about how to transform your everyday style to a party look.  Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure… with peep-toe stilettos the look this autumn, feet need to be in tip-top condition!

Then it’s on to the choice of party wear.  Let your fingers do the walking.  Take time to browse through the high street collections online to get an idea of the latest styles for autumn and winter.  Check out what style icons are wearing on the catwalks, red carpets and clubs.  Is the restrained elegance of Kate Middleton more your thing?  Or do you just love the out-and-out whacky glamour of Pixie Lott?

For a feast of choice, New Look have party dresses for the new season that range from the demure just above-the-knee pencil dress to the outrageous glamour of a Hollywood vampy evening dress in scarlet silk.  Hemlines are just as varied.  If you love the long-legged look, then a sequined mini with chiffon flounce at the hem might be the style for you.  The dip-hems of summer are still as popular, with mix-and-match materials, silk and the finest lace and gauzy hems swooping into mini-trains at the back, and a sexy above-the-knee hemline at the front.

Accessories are all-important this season.  Ankle boots have gone glamorous, with peep-toe and cut-away styles, in glitter and metallic glazes.  Earrings are outrageously long and go with the swept-up hairstyles of the autumn, and are worn with matching bangles.  Finally don’t forget that all-important accessory the clutch bag, sparkling with sequins  – and you are ready to hit the party scene.
