We are just a little over two weeks from Valentine’s Day. Each year, I try a new recipe to heighten my Valentine mood. I recently found a super easy recipe that anyone can make – Valentine Cookies! These pretty heart-shaped cookies are yummy (enjoy them with coffee or milk) and fun to prepare (kids will love making these).
You can use a cookie press but I shaped mine to get different sizes. This recipe yields lots of cookies so you might need a few baking sheets. I baked mine a couple of minutes longer since I like my cookies hard & crunchy. Put them in a cute heart-shaped tin can and give out them as a Valentine’s gift. You’ll melt their hearts… made by you!
Valentine Cookies
2 cups of butter (no substitutes), softened
2 cups of sugar
3 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
6 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Red colored sugarIn a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour and baking powder; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
Shape with a cookie press. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Decorate with sugar if desired. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until edges are light brown.
